Greece, officially know as "The Hellenic Republic", is gifted with a rich and fascinating cultural heritage having been part of each of the great Empires "Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman" that ruled the region. It is the southernmost country on the European mainland with over 2000 islands scattered about the eastern Mediterranean and Aegean Seas, of which roughly 200 are inhabited.
